Morning in Brussels

Dave: On our last morning, we work up early and ended up having time to spare all along the way. How wonderful and very out of character for us. We leisurely packed the cases, filled the car, and headed for the airport and our long flight back home to Florida

Ready to go. Heading home to Florida

Ready to go, suitcases and backpacks filled. In ten short hours we will sleep in our own beds!

"Golden Tulip" was more than adequate for our last night
Modern offices were springing up all over the area

Monika at the Golden Tulip in Brussels

On Saturday morning, Monika was delightful at the desk of the near empty Golden Tulip. She took our picture (above), and told us she was from Poland (where it doesn't rain every day like Brussels).  She told us she goes to the internet often, to send e-mails to her mother, so we gave her our travelin-tigers URL so she can read our travel story.

We went off to fill the gas tank, and Jesse insisted we go back to the hotel take Monika's picture for this page.

I was so glad he did, and we went back, and she was delighted and delightful once again. Hi Monika!

Monika was from Poland. She took our picture.

We dozed and uploaded pictures and snacked and read and watched movies. Eight short hours later we were on the ground in Atlanta, claiming our luggage and clearing US customs. To the crown room to call Lyn, then one more flight home to Florida. Our first request? An authentic American hamburger! Welcome Home.

Dave: Lyn met us at the airport, and it was great to see her. We were exhausted and frazzled and ready to go home. We headed for the Steak and Shake for good American hamburgers and double thick shakes. We started telling stories and didn't finish for almost two weeks. We started to put together this web page, writing the stories, and finished up in late September.

I had exactly two days to rest at home, as we arrived home from Europe on the Saturday before Memorial day and I had to fly to San Francisco on Monday evening. It was back to work, and back to life, but we had a vacation full of memories to last us a lifetime. I hope you enjoyed our story and pictures.

Good to be Home

Glad to see us and we're glad to see her
